This video takes students through a worked example of a pre-registration

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Understand what a pre-registration is
  • Outline the key elements of a pre-registration via a “Reproducible Research Checklist”
  • Become aware of how you can apply the “Reproducible Research Checklist” to your own work, and the benefits of adopting this approach.

Question 1

What are some of key details that need to be included in a research project in order for it to be reproducible?

Using the “Reproducible Research Checklist,” which was introduced in the previous video, this video goes through each step and provides an example of the information you might include in a preregistration. This video is led by Niamh MacSweeney, a PhD student in the Division of Psychiatry, who will be using an example of a pre-registration from her own research. Niamh will guide you each step of the “Reproducible Research Checklist” and provide an example of the kind of detail required in a pre-registration.
